A Local Guide to Small Pebble Beach and Its Surroundings in Kaş
You’ve finally arrived in Kaş and settled into your hotel. Perhaps the journey was long and you're feeling a bit worn out. In moments like this, most of us look for something relaxing to do that doesn’t require much effort. Fortunately, many trips to Kaş are so full of energy and excitement that even tiredness won’t hold you back from heading out and exploring. Small Pebble Beach is the perfect spot to ease into the Kaş experience—close by, peaceful, and effortlessly beautiful.
If you're staying in the centre of Kaş, Small Pebble Beach is just a 5–10 minute walk away. Its easy access is one of its many charms. From the main square, walk up the famous Uzun Çarşı street. After a short climb, turn right—you’ll need to do this if you're coming from Uzun Çarşı—then continue until the beach appears ahead of you.
The entrance is tucked away, covered in greenery and easy to miss. Walk through the vine-covered archway and descend a short flight of stairs. You’ll arrive at Small Pebble Beach—a narrow stretch just 5–10 metres wide, nestled in a tiny valley that opens out to the sea in a V-shape. Rugged rock faces about 5–10 metres high flank both sides, creating a natural cove.
Due to its small size, it can feel a bit busy during peak hours in summer, though ‘busy’ is relative—there are rarely more than 20 people here. Arrive early in the morning and you might just have the beach to yourself. The water is calm and wave-free, thanks to its sheltered position, and the turquoise colour is especially vivid here—even by Kaş’s high standards.
There are no restaurants or facilities directly on the beach. However, if you're looking to rent a sunbed or umbrella, there are several private beaches just a few steps away where you can do so.
The pebbles are small and generally comfortable underfoot, though you might prefer to bring a pair of water shoes—especially if you plan to climb and jump from the nearby rocks, which is a popular and fun activity.
One thing we highly recommend bringing is a pair of goggles. Slip into the turquoise waters and you’ll find yourself in a small underwater paradise—swim among the fish, gather colourful pebbles, and enjoy a mini-adventure just beneath the surface.
Derya Beach
Derya Beach is one of the oldest beach establishments in Kaş. Perched above Small Pebble Beach on the cliffs, it offers sweeping views of the beach below, Kaş harbour, and the endless Mediterranean beyond. Run by a local family, Derya Beach first opened its doors in 1986 as the very first business in the Small Pebble Beach area.
You can swim directly from Derya’s wooden platform or take the stairs down to the small beach next to it. The platform features over 100 sunbeds, making it one of the larger spots in the area. The restaurant menu is more varied than most beachside eateries, offering pizzas, burgers, cocktails, and international snacks. Their thin-crust pizza is especially popular.
Enjoying a cocktail while watching the sunset and listening to live music is one of the highlights of spending an evening here. On arrival, you’ll be given a number for your tab, and everything you order is tracked under that number. If you spend at least 80 TL, your sunbed is free. Due to its popularity, especially in high season, booking a day in advance is highly recommended.
Çınarlar Beach
Located just to the left of Derya Beach, Çınarlar Beach is another popular spot in the Small Pebble area. From here, you can enjoy views of the harbour, the Greek island of Kastellorizo, and of course, Small Pebble Beach itself.
Çınarlar offers a spacious setting with seating available under large umbrellas or the natural shade of trees. Alongside sunbeds, the restaurant serves cold drinks, pizzas, burgers, and light snacks.
What sets Çınarlar apart is its massage services. On-site massage therapists offer Swedish, Thai, and deep tissue massages—a welcome treat after a swim or a long travel day. That said, finding a free sunbed isn’t easy, especially in the front row, which operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Making a reservation ahead of time is strongly advised.
Nur Beach
For those seeking a touch of style and comfort, Nur Beach is the chicest choice along Small Pebble. Positioned just beside Çınarlar Beach, it spreads across multiple levels of wooden platforms built into the rocky shoreline.
Nur Beach is visually striking, featuring swings, beach canopies, and even small pools that create an elegant and Instagram-worthy atmosphere. Each sunbed comes with a clean towel and a wicking cover for added comfort.
The restaurant here is excellent, offering a diverse menu that includes fajitas, risotto, noodles, and classic beachside staples like burgers and pizza. We especially recommend the hamburgers—the patties are made from tenderloin and cooked to perfection.
A minimum spend of 120 TL per person is required, but for many visitors, the experience feels well worth the price.
