Just 4 kilometres from Kaş along the scenic coastal road to Fethiye, Akçagerme Beach is one of the most accessible and peaceful places to swim near the town centre. After Small Pebble and Big Pebble Beach, it’s among the closest and calmest spots to enjoy the sea.

A Unique Setting

Unlike many other beaches in Kaş, the water at Akçagerme is a rich emerald green, complemented by the pine trees that line the shore. You’ll spot this striking colour even before you reach the beach.

Stretching about 200 metres, the beach is flanked by low rocky cliffs—5 to 10 metres high—on one side, and stone blocks leading toward Kaş on the other. Between the beach and the main road, you’ll also find basketball and volleyball courts.

Calm, Clear, and Family-Friendly

What makes Akçagerme stand out is its calm, shallow water—you can wade several metres into the sea without it getting deep. This makes it a favourite among families with young children. There are no large stones or sharp rocks underfoot—just soft sand mixed with small pebbles. Walking into the sea feels smooth and comfortable.

The water is usually still and crystal clear, and often among the warmest in the Kaş area.

A Student-Run Beach

One of Akçagerme’s most remarkable features is that it’s run by the students of the Kaş Tourism and Trade School. In fact, it’s the only beach in Antalya province managed entirely by students.

The Kaş Governorate allocated the site to the school, providing students with hands-on experience in tourism management. From maintenance and layout to the café and customer service, it’s all handled by these young trainees—and they do a brilliant job.

Facilities and Food

You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas for a small fee, or lay your towel on the sand and enjoy the sunshine for free. At the far end of the beach, there are chic canopies available for rent if you’d prefer to stay shaded.

There are cold-water showers and toilets, all free to use. After a swim or sunbathe, rinsing off in the icy mountain spring water is a refreshing treat.

The beach café is large and shaded, styled like a traditional tea garden. Run by students, it serves simple yet tasty snacks such as sandwiches, pizzas, hamburgers, as well as ice cream and cold drinks—all at prices lower than most other beaches in the area. The staff are attentive, and everything is kept clean and hygienic.

A Waterpark for the Kids

In 2010, the students added a small children’s water park, featuring three colourful slides and two pools. It’s a fantastic bonus for families and helps make Akçagerme one of the most kid-friendly beaches in Kaş.

Picnic with a View

If the beach gets too hot or you’re looking for a meal with a view, head up to the Tourism Park Restaurant, perched on the rocks above the beach. Also run by the students, this à la carte restaurant sits under the shade of pine trees, with lovely views stretching from Akçagerme to Kaş.

There’s also a designated picnic area here with tables and built-in barbeques. You can bring your own food and enjoy a meal in the shade—perfect for a relaxed afternoon.

Camping Nearby

Just across the road from the beach, you’ll find a private campsite called Muhtar’ın Yeri Yörük Sofrası ve Kamping (“Muhtar’s Place Yörük Kitchen and Camping”). You can rent a tent or bring your own. It’s not run by the students but makes for a convenient overnight stop close to the sea.

Getting to Akçagerme

  • By minibus: A 10-minute ride from Kaş town centre
  • On foot: A beautiful 4 km coastal walk with stunning views and swim spots along the way

There are several quiet beaches along this coastal stretch—some free, some paid—but all with that signature turquoise water and a more tranquil atmosphere than the town’s central beaches.

Akçagerme is the perfect beach if you’re looking for a peaceful day by the sea, especially for families or couples. Whether you're relaxing under the pines, swimming in calm waters, or enjoying a student-prepared meal, Akçagerme offers a quiet escape just minutes from Kaş.
