A Budget-Friendly Gem: Kaş Municipality Beach
Kaş Municipality Beach: Clean, Calm and Community-Focused
Kaş Municipality Beach is often cleaner and better maintained than many private beaches, despite being open to the public. It features a café, restaurant, free car park, and even a separate women-only swimming area. Since it’s managed by the local municipality, prices are refreshingly affordable—making it a popular option for budget-conscious travellers who still want quality facilities and beautiful surroundings.
Located just 1.5 km from the centre of Kaş, the beach is a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Many who visit return again and again, drawn by the clean water, scenic views, and convenient location. The beach faces Kaş Harbour and Limanağzı, with Hidayet Beach and İnceboğaz close by.
Natural Beauty and Layout
Set in one of the most stunning bays of the Çukurbağ Peninsula, this beach stands out with its long, curved shoreline. Most beaches in Kaş are small due to the rocky terrain, with many only stretching 10–20 metres. This one offers more space and a gentler entry into the sea.
The beach itself is covered in pebbles—common in Kaş. Adults are usually fine with this, but water shoes are recommended for children or those with sensitive feet. The sea is crystal clear, shifting from bright turquoise near the shore to deep navy blue further out. It’s calm in the mornings, ideal for relaxed swimming or snorkelling, but tends to become slightly wavier in the afternoon due to its open sea location. Don’t worry—the waves are rarely disruptive.
In the early morning, visibility underwater is excellent—even without goggles. Swimming out to the buoys is peaceful and enjoyable. While there aren’t as many fish here as in more secluded coves, you’ll still spot a few if you bring your mask and snorkel.
Two blue-and-white platforms extend into the sea from the beach. Visitors often enjoy walking to the end of these platforms and diving in. There’s also a small dock built onto the wooden platform for easier sea access.
Facilities and Comfort
There is no entrance fee to the beach—you’re welcome to lay your towel anywhere and enjoy a swim. If you'd prefer extra comfort, sunbeds and umbrellas are available to rent for 10 TL each. These are placed both on the pebbled beach and the wooden platform, with distancing guidelines taken into account.
A grassy area just parallel to the shore offers a rare opportunity in Kaş: sunbathing on cool, shaded grass under palm trees. It’s a lovely spot to relax if you’d rather not lie on pebbles.
A special area reserved for women provides a private and quiet space for swimming. Like the rest of the beach, this section is clean and free to access.
Food and Drink
The on-site café and restaurant have a laid-back, beachy vibe—wooden tables, tropical details, ivy-covered windows, and no loud music. You’re welcome to bring your own food, but the café serves affordable snacks and drinks, including hamburgers, toasties, gözleme (stuffed flatbread), chips, sandwiches, and pastries. Ice cream and cold beverages are also available.
Sample prices:
- Can of cola: 8 TL
- Bottle of water: 3 TL
- Portion of fries: 12 TL
The service is friendly and quick, and additional hygiene measures are in place.
Family-Friendly Touches
Behind the restaurant, there’s a small children’s park with a swing, slide, and basic exercise machines. This makes the beach an especially good option for families with young children.
How to Get There
Kaş Municipality Beach is just a 15-minute walk (1.5 km) from the town centre. The scenic walk is pleasant and passes by other beaches. Alternatively, you can take the local minibus from the town square (near the mosque), which runs every 30 minutes.
Taxis from the centre cost around 20 TL. If you're arriving by car, there's a large, free car park right next to the beach.
