A Natural Gem Just Beyond Kaş

Located on Büyük Çakıl Caddesi (Big Pebble Street), Big Pebble Beach sits just south of the Kaş town centre. If you’ve just arrived in Kaş and want to unwind without going too far, this is the perfect nearby option. It’s close enough to walk, yet peaceful enough to feel like a short getaway.

What to Expect

The beach gets its name from the large pebbles that cover the shore. Nestled between two steep green hills, the beach is framed by rocky cliffs on both sides. While the beach is pebbly, the seabed consists mainly of sand and smaller pebbles—so bring water shoes for comfort.

The water tends to be calm in the morning and a bit wavier after midday, depending on the weather. Although not as still as other nearby beaches, some days you’ll find it wonderfully tranquil.

What truly sets Big Pebble apart is the fresh spring water that flows into the bay. This cool mountain spring creates a noticeable difference in water temperature—refreshing on hot days—and gives the sea its vibrant turquoise colour. The mix of salt and spring water makes for a unique swimming experience.

A Stunning Sunset Spot

Big Pebble is also one of the best places in Kaş to watch the sunset. In the evening, the beachfront restaurants set their tables right on the pebbles next to the sea, creating a magical, romantic atmosphere. If you enjoy seaside dining with the sound of waves and views of golden skies, this is the place.

Free to Enjoy, Easy to Access

There’s no entrance fee at Big Pebble Beach. You’re welcome to lay out your towel anywhere and spend the day as you like. If you prefer, sunbeds and umbrellas are available through the cafés—usually free if you spend at least 50 TL on food or drinks.

Beachside Restaurants to Try

There are six restaurants along the beach, and most offer food and drink service directly to your sunbed.

🍽 Ada Beach Restaurant
A friendly, family-run spot with a relaxed atmosphere. They offer Mediterranean dishes, fresh seafood, fast food, and a few bungalows for overnight stays. Their homemade jam and hand-cut chips are especially good.

🐚 Mermaid Beach Restaurant
Clean, well-organised, and with a hard-working team, Mermaid offers fast service and good food. Try their homemade chips with yoghurt—simple, delicious, and satisfying.

🐟 Kaş Balık Restoran & Sahil Meyhanesi
A lovely raki and seafood bar with a welcoming vibe. Their blue and white décor, ambient lighting, and evening music create a lively but laid-back atmosphere. Enjoy fresh fish, homemade börek, zesty salads, and refreshing lemonade—perfect with a glass of raki.

Getting to Big Pebble Beach

From the town centre, walk past Small Pebble Beach (Küçük Çakıl)—worth a quick stop if you haven’t been. Continue along the coastal road for about 20 minutes. As you approach, you’ll see the stunning view of Big Pebble from above, so don’t forget to take photos.

If you prefer not to walk, minibuses depart every few minutes from the mosque in Kaş’s main square. Just ask for Büyük Çakıl and enjoy a short, scenic ride.
